I guess you, like I, would be stunned to have just read that figure. Arguably one of the most stunning, iconic finches that is known the world over is on the edge of the abyss in oblivion in the wild. Years of environmental mismanagement and neglect have lead to this untenable situation.

The aim of this website is to outline the work of the Save The  Gouldian Fund  and hopefully welcome you on board as a sponsor and supporter of the research into the decline of the wild Gouldian finch, Erythrura gouldiae, across its range.

The Save The Gouldian Fund was formed fittingly enough at the AWC's Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary in September 2005 to provide a funding body to help support research into the decline of the wild population of the Gouldian finch.

Consists of well-known aviculturist and long-time Gouldian lover Mike Fidler and his wife Elisabeth together with Tasmanian aviculturist Marcus Pollard.

It aims to provide funding to researchers working on the problem – both in the wild and in captivity.

We hope that you will get behind us and take the next step and become a Gouldian supporter before it is too late!!
